US based Operations begin! Our Friend Justin took it upon himself to get supplies for the homeless community of Portland, Maine. The reality we learned while bringing clothing and water to the people here was very sad. The shelters are all full, the churches close their doors to them, the police take their tents, all while trying to survive sleeping outside in negative temperatures. We came across many people who were forced to sleep on the ground in the elements by themselves.
The craziest part is Justin didn’t use a single dollar from the fund for this; every dollar is already in works for clothing and shoes for the children overseas and the donations have slowed since then. Justin spent his own money on these tents, food, sleeping bags, and hand warmers. He linked up with a few young men of the community and off they went to bring things these people need to survive the Winter.
This is how we operate here at The Heart Ties Foundation; we use every spare dollar we have as disabled Veterans on low budgets for people in need, and this is where you come in. We always will prioritize our money being used first, but it’s never enough, so we come to the community and spread the message of the sweet orphan children in need and we are offering the opportunity to others who wish to help, a direct line to the kids in need. No one gets paid, every penny goes to the people in need including our own.
